Secondary 1 Registration

Dear Parents/ Guardian,

Secondary 1 students posted to Whitley Secondary School should report to the school between 8.00 - 8.30 am on 22 December 2016. Please note the following information prior to reporting:


Registration Programme line-up on Sec 1 Registration Day:

  • Welcome address by Principal
  • Briefing on School Opening Matters by Assistant Year Head
  • Purchase of Textbooks, House T-shirts and Uniform


Things to note:

  • Look for your assigned Sec One Class from the notice boards placed at the school foyer/ outside the school hall.
  • Proceed to the school hall for registration and briefing by 8 30 am.


Things to bring :

  • Your child/ ward’s Student Pass and Primary School Report Book.

FAQ on Registration and Briefing

(a) How long will the entire registration and briefing be?

Registration and briefing is expected to take approximately 1.5 hours, excluding purchase of books and uniforms. Please allow for 2 to 3 hours to queue up and purchase Textbooks, House T-shirts and Uniform.

(b) Can I purchase the books and uniforms on another day?

Books and uniforms will be available for purchase on 22 December 2016. Please refer to the information below for alternative dates for the sales of textbooks, house t-shirts and uniform.

(c) Can I access the booklists for various streams online?

Book lists for Express, Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) streams can be viewed and/or downloaded by clicking on the links here.

(d) What is the mode of payment accepted by the vendors? 

Cash and cheque payment for the books vendor and cash only for the uniform vendor. 

(e) What are the average costs of books and uniforms for all three streams?

The estimated average costs of books and uniforms for all three streams are $300 and $100 respectively.  

(f) Should my child/ward report to school if we intend to transfer to another school?

All students posted to Whitley Secondary School are required to report on 22 December 2016 to our school by 8.30 am even if they are seeking a transfer.

(g) Should I purchase books and uniforms if I intend to apply for financial assistance (FA) or seek a transfer?

Students intending to apply for FA and/or transfer are advised not to buy books and uniforms until the outcome of their FA application or transfer is finalised.   

(h) Can I apply for financial assistance (FA)?

Students needing financial assistance (FA) may bring their supporting documents to do the FA application on 22 December 2016 but the purchase of books and uniforms can only be done after the approval for FA is granted. Successful applicants will be notified to pick up the approval letter from the General Office.
