Humanities
The Humanities Department aims to broaden students’ perspectives and support their success in learning. Through the subjects of History, Geography, Social Studies, and Principles of Accounts, the department seeks to inculcate strong citizenship values and develop students’ critical and analytical thinking skills.
Humanities teachers design learning experiences that are enjoyable, meaningful, and authentic by promoting experiential learning and connecting classroom content to contemporary world issues and events. Student collaboration and peer learning are strongly valued and actively promoted through group projects and pedagogical approaches such as the Structured Inquiry Cycle and the Deliberation process.
The department also leverages Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance teaching and learning. Students make use of platforms such as the Student Learning Space (SLS), Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and curated YouTube resources to support classroom learning and collaborative work. These digital tools foster student engagement, self-directed learning, and effective collaboration.
Hands-on and experiential learning is a key feature of the Humanities curriculum. Students participate in learning journeys, fieldwork projects, workshops, conferences, and competitions. When necessary, selected learning experiences are adapted to online platforms to ensure continuity and meaningful engagement.
Through the Humanities curriculum, students develop a deeper understanding of society and the world around them. They strengthen their critical thinking, collaboration, and inquiry skills while gaining confidence in applying knowledge to real-world contexts. The integration of ICT further equips students with essential digital competencies for learning and communication.
